I have taught at St. Bernard since 2002 in early childhood, first grade, and currently multi-age (grades 1 and 2). What I love about a multi-age class is building a community of learners who love to learn together and respect others. I am thrilled to celebrate every student's unique successes. Each day the door is open to new discoveries, plus grow our friendship with God. I am a proud Golden Apple Award Recipient and I strive to live up to that honor each day. When not in the classroom I love to read, golf, take walks, relax on a beach, cheer on my favorite teams (Packers, Badgers, Brewers, UWGB Phoenix, NDA Tritons), or simply hang out with my family. I am so blessed to be a part of the St. Bernard community!

Do you know how to choose a SMART seat?

NOTE: Due to Covid-19, we will not implement flexible seating. As soon as social distancing restrictions are lifted, flexible seating will resume!

Room 5 students sure do! When working in a flexible seating classroom the students need to make choices and those choices are based on SMART.

Why flexible seating? From Edutopia (April 2016) .. Outside the windows of our classroom is a dynamic, fast-paced, and ever-changing world full of choices. How can we expect our students to solve problems and make choices independently if we constantly solve their problems and make their choices for them? Our classroom environments should be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.

Homework Watch

  • Reading 20 minutes at least 5 days a week..record on the reading log sheet
  • Book Reports.. two per month attached to the reading log sheet
  • Weekly Language Arts assignment … sent home on Monday and due Friday
  • Math assignment … 1-2 per week as needed to practice skills
  • Practice the spelling words … weekly tests!
  • Review and practice basic math addition/subtraction facts

Please get into the habit of checking the Home-School folder for the weekly assignment sheet and homework.

Volunteer? Yes, please!

NOTE: Due to Covid-19, we will not have parent volunteers. As soon as it is safe, volunteering in the classroom will resume!

Please be sure you have your VIRTUS training and background check complete before volunteering!Here is a schedule of basic volunteer times needed, but please contact me if you happen to get some time free and want to help, I am sure I can find a job for you!
