Destination Imagination is open to teams of seven students. This organization teaches students to think creatively to solve problems using limited resources. It meets before/after school hours. Restrictions will be determined by the age range of students trying out. All students must meet the age requirement for the group competition. (Group will be either primary, intermediate or middle school.)
Students in grades 5-8 are eligible to participate in band. There is no charge for the band program but all participants must take individual lessons either at St. Bernard or from an independent instructor.
Jazz band is open to interested 6th-8th graders. It meets from 7:45 am – 8:20 am on Tuesday and Thursday. Jazz band performs at assemblies and band concerts.
National Junior Honor Society
Second semester sixth graders, seventh graders and eighth graders are eligible for induction into NJHS. Students must meet qualifications for membership and be approved by a panel of teachers. The five pillars of NJHS are scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. Students must qualify in all five pillars. NJHS provides service for our school, plans assemblies, and helps to plan service activities.
Student council is open to interested sixth – eighth graders. Students must apply by writing a letter to the student council advisors, Mrs. DeCleene and Mrs. Lani. Student council provides leadership for our school by helping plan service activities and assemblies and by providing service to teachers.
Boy and Girl Scouts
VEX IQ Club
This club is open to fifth and sixth graders. Members learn how to construct and program a Vex robot. The club meets on Tuesdays from 3:45-5:15. Advisors are Ms. Howlett and Mrs. Herman. Competitions with other schools will be held on November 12th, December 17th and if qualified- February 25th.
